This project served as the official 2025 season intro video for Colorado Men’s Basketball, directed and concepted entirely by myself. After pitching the idea to the athletics creative team, I was given full creative control to bring it to life. Over the course of a month, I captured daily timelapses of Boulder’s Flatirons to visualize the changing seasons leading into basketball season. I also directed scripted media-day poses to create seamless match cuts with in-game action. The piece opens cinematically, emphasizing the rhythm of time and nature, before evolving into high-energy action complemented by a custom voiceover performed by NBA players and CU alumni KJ Simpson and Tristan da Silva. The final 50-second video debuted in-venue and was adapted into a shorter social cut for the night before the season opener.

PURPOSE

Capture the anticipation of the season by blending the natural rhythm of Boulder’s landscape with the pulse of Colorado Basketball. The concept symbolizes transition and momentum, connecting the Flatirons and shifting light with the return of the team and its energy.

PRODUCT

A 50-second cinematic intro video that debuted on the CU Events Center videoboard and across Colorado Basketball’s digital platforms. The piece highlights the beauty of Boulder, the identity of Colorado Basketball, and the emotion of the game’s return through dramatic imagery and pacing.

PROCESS

After developing and pitching the concept, I handled directing, shooting, and editing the opening sequence, focusing on timelapses, seasonal scenics, and match-cut sequences between media-day setups and gameplay. Over four media-day shoots, I designed specific shot compositions for transitions and collaborated with staff editor Simon Broan on the action sequences. The voiceover script I wrote was recorded with KJ Simpson and Tristan da Silva, tying the narrative together with authentic player voices.
