PURPOSE
The purpose of these projects was to help fans get to know two new members of the Colorado Football coaching staff, Defensive Coordinator Chris Marve and Running Backs Coach Johnnie Mack. As new additions to the program, both pieces were designed to give insight into who they are, how they operate at practice, and what they bring to the team. The goal was to create engaging feature stories that introduced each coach’s personality and coaching presence while also building excitement around the program.
PRODUCT
The final products were two 3-minute features created for Colorado Football’s YouTube channel, one centered on Chris Marve and the other on Johnnie Mack. In addition to the full-length pieces, shorter supporting clips were posted to Instagram to extend the content’s reach and increase engagement across platforms.
PROCESS
I was assigned both features and built each piece by combining already-shot interviews with practice footage I filmed, including mic’d-up material captured over the course of a day at practice. My role centered on shaping each story through editing, using the interviews as the narrative foundation, and pairing them with visuals that reflected each coach’s energy, personality, and leadership style on the field. Both edits took about two days to complete. A major part of the process was finding the right moments from practice that complemented each coach's message, so the final pieces felt personal, dynamic, and true to each coach's individual presence within the program.
