PURPOSE

NFL Throwback lives on the archive, so the work is about pulling players back into the conversation who have fallen out of it. Shadowing Kaveh Kaghazi for a week meant learning how that gets done at scale: finding the footage, then making decades-old broadcast tape land for an audience that never watched these guys play live.

PRODUCT

24 YouTube shorts for a Greatest Forgotten Players series, each built on four or five plays and released across the season. They average roughly 290,000 views, 9,000 likes, and 650 comments apiece. Alongside those, an 11-minute Luke Kuechly top-50 plays video was released as part of his Hall of Fame rollout and has pulled 23,000 views.

PROCESS

Kaveh gave direction on which players and plays to build around, and sourcing took it from there. Most of the footage came from 1980s and 1990s broadcasts, which means no play clock on screen and none of the search handles a modern pull relies on, so finding a specific play often meant working through tape by eye. From there, each short had to compress four or five plays into a format where the hook lands in the first second and the archive quality becomes part of the appeal rather than a limitation.
