THUMBNAIL TESTING
PURPOSE
Shedeur Sanders was one of the most talked-about players of the offseason, but most of that conversation was noise instead of tape. This project set out to answer the question fans were actually asking, using the one asset no other channel has access to: the NFL Films archive. It also carried a second job. The video was the launch piece for the NFL Pro YouTube channel, so it had to prove the channel could deliver real long-form analysis, not just clip dumps.
PRODUCT
A 5:37 YouTube video breaking down Shedeur's best tape and making the case for him as an NFL starter, delivered alongside the original pitch deck that greenlit it and a set of thumbnails built for A/B testing. It was released as the first original video on the NFL Pro YouTube channel, with the rest of the library ported over behind it, and pulled 136,000 impressions in the first 24 hours.
PROCESS
I pitched the concept to my manager, JJ, and the team, got approval, and took it end-to-end from there. I wrote the VO with input from Sean Schoppe and Justin Platt, and Justin voiced the final read. From there, I pulled 300+ clips out of NFL Films and cut the piece so each play built on the last, moving from mechanics and reads into the larger argument. NFL Pro and Next Gen Stats MOGRTs put the numbers on the field instead of on a slide. Once the edit was locked, I A/B tested titles and thumbnails to find the version that pulled hardest before release.
