The Creative Process
10,000 Hour Rule
BRADLEY PRATT Director, Editor, Videographer
Created as a student project for CMDP 3600—Media Practices II with Professor August Black at the University of Colorado Boulder, this video reflects my application of the 10,000-hour rule to the craft of videography and editing. Blending process and purpose, it showcases both my growth throughout the year and the intentional approach I take to storytelling in visual media.

PURPOSE
The video was created to explore the 10,000-hour rule through the lens of my craft, showing how practice, repetition, and experimentation shape my growth as a filmmaker. While originally a class project, it also served as a personal reflection on the intentional approach I take to storytelling and my dedication to continuous improvement.
PRODUCT
A self-produced short film functioning as both a class project and a behind-the-scenes companion to my 2024–2025 sports reel. The final deliverable showcased the workflow and mindset behind my editing process.
PROCESS
I storyboarded, filmed, and edited this project entirely on my own, blending staged sequences with behind-the-scenes visuals to illustrate my editing workflow. The piece incorporated techniques such as gimbal and dolly shots, macro close-ups, and handheld raw-style framing. I also integrated graphics, transitions, and sound design to demonstrate the different stages of my creative process, from organizing footage to layering effects, color, and audio.
